Does any one think the new classes are a bit....uninteresting? It seems to me like the Dervish is a Smiting wammo with a sycthe(the sycteh being the best aspect of the dervish), and the Paragon: a prot monk of the elonians. D';
I think they should have tryed addoptign a class from Sardelac or one of the many other forums out there. I would have liked to see the Stalker, the Engineer, or the Alchemist put into game play, and the stalker even has some lore behind it already (The Tale of the Darkstalker). Does anyone elese feel the same way about the new classes? >_>
Yeah, I don't think that we can make any decisions until we are able to try them out.
Heck, we don't even know thier attributes, so how can we compair them to other classes. Remember, gamespot doesn't know as much about gw as we do, so they don't exactly know how to explain the new classes very well. I remember reading about the ritualist and assasins on other websites, and they are very different than what the websites made them out to be.
well right now you can't compaire the javason to the Paragon cause we haven't played them yet. So once we get to play them, then we can decide how much their alike. Till then we will have to wait and see...
BTW i played D2 from beta till about a month after the first guildwars came out...So i know why too much about D2
Honestly, I think that the Paragon has to potential to be a very popular secondary or even primary in PvP. Think about it this way:
Paragons support the group with AoE shouts. The flavor of these professions imply that a good deal of this support is going to be offensive. (Good.) Shouts, as is, do not take any time investment. (Good.) No time investment = No interrupts. Also, provided they have the energy for it any character can find time for a shout. Monks are pretty preoccupied with healing people, but I'm sure they can find the time for a shout. Hex spammers are generally found casting hexes, but they can easily fit a shout in there. Ritualists are almost always putting up a new spirit yet they will be able to shout here and there. Basically, the paragon secondary will work with any other class provided it has the energy and the space for the shouts. And I think that has the potential for alot of power.
Of course, we'll have to wait and see exactly what the skillset looks like. But I'm looking forward to it.
How the heck can you make any comparisons or opinions about these professions yet? Nothing exact has been revealed except that dervishes can turn into gods. All that info bout scythes and holy warrior dont tell me anythign about attributes or skills.
Also, with the basics of a caster, an illusionist, a cleric, a warrior, an archer, a spirit controller, and a ninja covered......what else can ANET think of that...
1. fits in with the game lore
2. continues along Guild Wars balanced standards
3. is original, or adapted from previous MMOs
and most importantly...
4. Please the masses
Think about that buddy before you try to flare out at ANET is jsut copying a war or an ele in a new flavor
Yeah, the core classes cover pretty much everything. It seems like the expansion classes are just cool mini classes that expand on a more specific concept, kinda like DnD prestige classes.
New classes
I have come to really appreciate GW style and like anything else there are always ways to make things better and sometimes worse. No matter what is finally decided about the future of GW I do appreciate that I may not like what they do but I do so hate it when I am being bilked. I am thrilled that GW does not ask for a monthly fee and so I don't mind expansions coming out. I would though like for the creators to leave out some things that came in the original game if they plan to introduce new things. Why? because I don't think that you should be allowed to play all classes in expansion if you don't have the original. Maybe I am showing my ignorance as I don’t currently have anything but Tyria.
I think that for each new expansion and new Character they should leave out two from one of the others. i.e. Assassin, Ritualist leave out Ranger, Mezmer.
I have also come to the realization that I have my own opinions about a new Char. I would like to see-
I have always wanted a special event where you can put together ANY eight skills from any class or skill set to make the best combination possible. I would love to see what people could come up with.
Which brings me to my new Char.
Chameleon
The ability to use any skill from any class. Their skills work at 50% - 90% of original skill depending on their level. A ghostly appearance allowing them a Agro bonus of half the normal range.
This is currently a work in progress but an idea that I believe to be worthwhile. I would certainly entertain ideas and or changes to this basic package.

First of all if you read my entire post you would see that I did think about that >_>
If you hop on over to Sardelac, as I mentioned, you can find several well thought out classes. If you take a look at the Stalker class(by Bahamut Kaiser) or for that matter any of the cclasses by bahamut ( I also liked dragons) he also already has some lore set out (Tale of the Darkstalker) or if you dont like that, engineer has already appeased the masses is an origaianl, it would fit well, although from what I heard it would work soemthign liek rit and build turrets and such( I only skimmed engineer), but nonetheless I wasnt flaring out at Anet, I was merely asking if anyone had the same thoguhts onthe new classes (based on the descriptions anet gave us) Anet doesnt even have to think of anythign really, they could just go ofver to the forums see which classes are liked best, pick from that, and expand upon it
Either way, I am still entitled to my opinion....And that is my opinion no one forced you to come here and read my opinion I thought the title was "Thoughts on the New classes" or something, so dont come here and just immediately hate me because I thoguht that some more creativity could have been added...and either way I still will buy nightfall, just like I bought factions and I was also originally a bit hesitant about the new classes...but, again, we'll see

All i know is that the Dervish will end up having as much hate as The Sin's, so many people play them noone want's them cause apperantly there all noobs..
I'm worried with the Paragon, that Anet's description of the class as the "battle commander" will inspire a bunch of egotistical wammos/newbies/etc to pick up the class.
Paragon Wammo: WTF?!!1111! ZOMG u noobs, wtf j00 doing. I commander, j00z followz me.!!!!SHIFT11111!!!
everybody seems to be coming to so many conclusions about these new classes. i personally i love them. i also loved rits and sins. im not a hardcore player really, i just paly for fun, and i think these new classes look awesome, to me they are original aswell. Paragons will be mroe than just shouts and stances. its says they are commanders, i cant reeli think of much but there must be more to them. ok they have the shouts, which are great but they use a spear which seems quite cool, also the whole angelic nature. HELLO we have angels on the battlefield, how cool is that, they are like protection monks but i think they are really cool. im rambling aint i lol. ok, DERVISHES, they look cool, ive heard alot about them being gods and stuff, i dont really think that suits em really, they look very prince of persiary. i must admit though i cant see what else they can do, sumit wid a scythe, but, i dno, aslong as it doesnt turn out to have sumit as shit as shadow arts or that crappy deadly arts. anywho i for one am really excited about the new proffesions, even though i aint played gw in months, im guna start playin again 2nite

Yeah...it might end up like the over populated species of the wammo, we need to thin the herd a bit any way on that one...natural selection wont take care of this problem however =.=;

Are you mad...disagreeing....or what...? *winces* I dont know what you want from me...
I think that with any game the more classes that are added the more they overlap. I mean I've played my fair share of mmorpgs where a Thief, Ninja, and Ranger class were all present, and all utilized bows, daggers, and stealth. Although all of them were quite unique in their own sense.
So I think it's a fair argument to say the new classes come off as "similar" to other comboinations, but I have confidence in the fact that come release time we'll find that they are unique enough to not just be categorized as "Dervish are just Warrior/Monk's using Smiting".
